The Christian Thing to Do

Matteis is the man: “Blackbeard Air” (Gus Garcia-Roberts, September 24) raises some serious questions. Didn’t Christian Matteis found Halcyon Jets and do $50 million in sales last year? Why would the company have risked losing him? I invested in this deal only when I heard he was involved.

Al Palagonia and Dennis Amodio should go back to being stockbrokers. They had no business in aviation. It’s too bad they spent all the money on building Apollo. It appears I am out big now. The stock is worth 11 cents. I bought it at two dollars.

Halcyon days: Christian Matteis was the company. They could not afford him, so they tried to smear his name. Everyone knows they were downsizing. Too bad it was all a bunch of hot air from Halcyon’s Greg Cohen. He tanked four other companies with the same MO every time. His plan to set up Matteis didn’t work. Matteis is a legend in the business, and Halcyon will crash and burn for losing him.

Shame on Cohen and Halcyon. Once Christian left, all shareholders pulled out. He was the talent!

A hater rants: In response to “Baby Got Fatback!” (Francisco Alvarado, September 17), I hate all of those highly paid, do-nothing crooks. Why don’t they step up and take a pay cut till things get better? Show the people they are for the people. This idea will fall on deaf ears because the politicians write their own paychecks. But let your anger out and remember them on Election Day. Don’t forgive or forget.

A cynic speaks: Many of the top politicians in Miami-Dade government are incredibly corrupt. They earn magnificent salaries and even receive pay raises while lower-ranking employees lose their jobs or receive lower salaries. How on Earth can this be? Once again, our politicians prove Miami is just a banana republic.

A teacher learns: I didn’t know a dump truck driver and a public aide earned a lot more in this city than a teacher with eight years of experience. Screw education — I got to get me another job.

A lady defends: It’s sad when anyone is threatened with job loss, and I agree that the top executives should suffer much more pain. But I know a lot of college-educated people who would love to make the salaries your “screwed” workers have been making for what they do. Just getting health insurance and half the holidays that public employees get would be enough for many of them.

A resident scolds: Surfside officials have allowed a once well-managed little town to go down the drain. Do we really need two police chiefs taking home a total of $250,000 plus benefits? Or how about our lawyer, who makes more than the Coral Gables city attorney? To allow this to happen must mean Surfside has the dumbest residents in the county. Wake up, fools!

Groin Talk

Ouch: If “Dude, Where’s My Schlong?” (Gus Garcia-Roberts, September 17) weren’t true, it would be funny. Actually, I chuckled in quite a few places anyway. This story should make every man, woman, and child thank their lucky stars for whatever small problems they have, because it could always be worse. You could have just lost your penis.

Liar, liar: I am a patient of Dr. Paul Perito and trust him implicitly to handle anything medically related to me. That patient is obviously lying to make up for a mistake he made. I know for a fact that Dr. Perito has performed penile implants many, many times without any complications. How could that patient get an infection on his penis after surgery? Is it because he did not keep it clean? Did not follow instructions? I think so! People like him should be charged with attempting to tarnish a good doctor’s name. It’s a disgrace and low-class. This has McDonald’s hot coffee all over it!
