Some votes are still being counted in Florida, but you can finally color in the state with the faintest shade of light blue. Mitt Romney’s campaign has just released a statement finally acknowledging that they’ve lost Florida.
“The numbers in Florida show this was winnable,” reads a statement released by Brett Doster, a Florida advisor for Romney. “We thought based on our polling and range of organization that we had done what we needed to win. Obviously, we didn’t, and for that I and every other operative in Florida has a sick feeling that we left something on the table. I can assure you this won’t happen again.”
As the counting stands now, Obama has 4,180,697 votes to Romney’s 4,124,865.
Votes are still being tallied in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Broward and Duval counties. Of those, Romney is only winning Duval, and by a narrow margin. Obama is carrying the other three by a comfortable margin.
Earlier today, Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager, told reporters on a conference call that he believed Obama would eventually be declared the winner of Florida.
