Stephen Colbert Mocks Marco Rubio For Refusing To Say If He’s Ever Smoked Pot

Americans may hold politicians to sometimes ridiculously high personal moral standards, but we are pretty lax about youthful drug use. Hell, Obama and Bush II have done coke, but Marco Rubio has always refused to say whether he’s ever smoked pot.

“Here’s the problem with that question in American politics, if you say you did, suddenly there are all these people saying ‘Well, it’s not a big deal, look at all these successful people who did it,'” Rubio said in a recent ABC News interview, “On the other side of it, if you tell people that you didn’t, they won’t believe you.”

Colbert of course couldn’t help but mock the answer, both by making fun of the idea of Rubio as some sort of teen idol and by pointing out how politically calculated it is.

We’re not sure why Rubio is really so reluctant to answer. He’s already gone on record as the only Senator in U.S. history to admit he’s attended a South Beach foam party.
