Elizabeth Taylor passed away this morning. We lost another Hollywood icon who might have touched our grandparent’s and parent’s lives more than she did ours, but we still knew her well. It’s a testament to her star power that she continued to make news even well into her 70s.
Taylor actually had over 300,000 followers on Twitter. We’re not sure but that’s got to put her near the top of the all time list for septuagenarians. Instead of recounting her storied life like everybody else is doing today, we’ll honor her passing by looking forward to who might play her in an upcoming movie. Think it’s in bad taste or too soon for that? Well, Taylor wondered aloud who might be cast to play her in a biopic after she did pass away last year, so we hope she’ll dig this post from wherever she’s at now. See her tweets on the subject from last July:

1. Natalie Portman
The Oscar-winning star of Black Swan definitely has the acting chops and
looks to play Taylor, plus they both got into the game at a very young
age and transitioned from child actors to leading ladies with incredible
success. We figure Portman will be able to relate to some of
tribulations of stardom that dogged Taylor her entire life.
2. Keira Knightley
Keira has that same sultry look about her that a youthful Taylor had. Plus Knightley is Brit like Taylor was (both were born in London). She’s
probably the only actress on the list who even knows what the Grand
National is. Even if Knightley is a bit thin to play Taylor, who had
curves on her curves in her heyday (and we mean that in a good way),
maybe Knightley can stock up on fish and chips for the part.
3. Mila Kunis
Kunis could be the dark horse of our list. That is to say she has that
same quality of being a breathtaking dark beauty (the 21st century
version anyway) that characterized Taylor early on. They both have
mesmerizing eyelashes–Taylor actually was born with a cool mutation
giving her two rows of lashes. Like her co-star in Black Swan, Kunis
transitioned from childhood actress to adult starlet.
4. Ashley Judd
It seems like we haven’t seen Ashley Judd on screen since Double
Jeopardy, but we still like her to depict Taylor through in her 30s or
40s. Judd comes from a famous family so she knows about celebrity and
might be able to relate with the stardom Taylor faced. Taylor’s most
famous husband was Richard Burton, who born in Wales, and Judd’s
husband, racecar driver Dario Franchitti, was born in Scotland.
5.Doris Roberts, Betty White, or Liza Minnelli (The Senior Years)
It’s tricky to pick an actress to depict Taylor as she got into her
golden years but maybe we should go with the only remaining Golden Girl
Betty White. Or how about Doris Roberts, Ray Romano’s mother. Both would
need some hair dye, but Liza Minnelli already has dark hair and she knew
Taylor well for decades. Plus, Minnelli is just as kooky, if not more
so, than Taylor was her senior years.
